The Rukin collection

A living study of great bow-making traditions.

The collection brings together more than 200 violin, viola and cello bows, with a particular depth in the historic French and German schools. Its scope extends from the revolutionary work of François-Xavier Tourte and the great Parisian makers, through Mirecourt and Markneukirchen, to distinguished craftsmen working before 1970.

Each maker profile in this directory represents current private availability. Individual prices, detailed photographs, complete descriptions, condition information and certificates are supplied directly after an enquiry rather than published in an open catalogue.
